MMCH is formed by a dedicated social work team of Pharping region. Hospital has great community support. It has been supported with community grants, land and many other services that is available in the community.
Due to second surge of Covid-19 spreading at community level of Nepal, the demand of oxygen is increasing. The life saving treatment for Covid-19 patient is medical oxygen. Nepal’s hospitals are facing an acute shortage of oxygen which is needed for COVID-19 patients as the country is struggling with record numbers of infections and deaths of COVID-19 cases. The government has estimated that around 15,000 oxygen cylinders are required to meet the current demand for oxygen. In contrast there are only 8000 oxygen cyliners in Nepal. Covid-19 crisis management center, one of the apex government body for dealing with the pendamic pointed out that the country might need 50,000 oxygen cylinders by end of july 2021. Many hospitals of the City areas of Nepal like, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, bhairawa, Nepalgunj etc have said that they no longer had oxygen supply to treat covid patients. At least 12 hospitals in Kathmandu valley (on 13 May 2021) had announced to stop admitting covid-19 patients for treatment due to the shortage of oxygen supplies.
The covid-19 patients are increasing day by day at Manamohan Hospital’s catchment areas (Dakshinkali Municipality, Indrasarowar Rural Municipality and Lalitpur areas). Presently, this Manamohan Memorial Community Hospital is also facing the problem of medical oxygen as the Covid-19 patient numbers are increasing rapidly. This hospital supplies the oxygen to the patients by refilling the Oxygen cylinders with few (2-3 cylinders/day) numbers. It is seemed that, the deamand will be increasing very soon and the hospital may not admit the new covid patient. So, Manamohan Community hospital is planning to establish its own medical oxygen plant so that no any covid patient will be returned back due to the lack of Oxygen.
